OCTOBER IN THE MEMBERSHIP - MEET THE JOURNALIST

Key Takeaways from October's Meet the Journalist - Georgie Fuller for Boss Your PR.png

Each month in my membership, The PR Collective, I put out a training video on a specific PR or visibility topic. Each training video comes with a download summary and this is in addition to the other resources that are available within the membership and through the FB group.

This month, I’ve done things a little differently and I invited freelance journalist Georgie Fuller into the group to do a Q&A session for members. There was so much value in this session as it gave members a chance to hear how it works from a journalist’s view, to get a peek behind the magic media curtain.

The session was just shy of an hour and is PACKED with insight and advice. It’s now in the members area and FB group for all current and new members to catch up on.

The feedback on the session has already been brilliant:

“Really useful thanks you. Great to get the opportunity to hear it 'like it really is' and has made me much better appreciate the pressure on journalists and how best to make things win/win.”

“Thank you so much, that was really helpful and definitely highighted the importance of building relationships.”

“It was so brilliant, I feel like I understand so much more about how it all works. I kind of feel more daunted, but also ready to make sure I have something good to share. I never really thought about how it works for the journalist with the story. So thank you so much Georgina and Fiona for this fab live.”

Do you want to know a few key takeaways though?

✨Research. The journalist, the magazine and around your subject.

✨Pitching a new product? Pitch the result, not the product.

✨Subject line. Make it quirky to stand out and get attention.

✨Build relationships. Working with the media is a two way conversation within which you want to position yourself as helpful and efficient.

That just scratches the surface.

For more insight including how to position yourself to become a ‘go to’ expert for the media, how the process works from pitch to coverage and whether a bit of social media stalking is helpful or not, you can access the whole session and a host of other PR training and resources via my membership.
