Boss Your PR x BBC Talentworks
It’s been a year of pretty hefty pinch me moments in the most fabulous way, but when I was approached by the team at BBC Talentworks earlier this month to deliver Media Training in both London and Manchester, it was a real jaw to the floor moment.
Despite having worked with the likes of the Brit Awards, Monkey Kingdom, Soho House, Oxford Brookes, Top Drawer, Virgin… I don’t take anything for granted and it’s still such a thrill when a new opportunity lands like Domestika and this recent BBC approach.
The work that the BBC Studios Talentworks team does to nurture creative talent is totally inspiring and it was wonderful to play a part in it. I worked with the team to deliver Media Training on both of their most recent Presenter Training Days; the first in BBC Television Centre, White City and the second at BBC Salford, Media City.

The content for the each Presenter Training Day was all about engaging new talent and equipping them with the skills and knowledge that would serve them well as they developed their careers as creatives and presenters in the media industry.
Each cohort learned about podcasting, interview skills, walking & talking to camera and was equipped with media training that will ensure they are savvy and prepared when it comes to putting on their public face.
In the interactive media training sessions we covered so much, including personal pyramids, elevator pitches, media needs & wants, types of interview, interview techniques as well as how to handle the unexpected and deflect those tricksy curveball questions.
Here’s what we got up to at BBC Salford 👇
The team were wonderful to work with - a true and absolute Dream Team and I was absolutely blown away by the talent that I was lucky enough to train on the days.
Take a look at this post from the wonderful Shu Lin a Food & Travel blogger and BBC Creator in Residence for her experience of the London Presenter Training day.
Thank you to Katrina Bell, Development Producer at BBC Talentworks who said, “We worked with Fiona at Boss Your PR recently on two Presenter Training Days, what can I say – it feels like we have known her forever. She was extremely warm, professional & very generous with her vast amount of knowledge and experience in the industry. We can’t wait to work with Fiona again.”
How can I also not share one of my fancy new BBC Studios headshots 💁🏻♀️
A joy. An absolute joy and it was so bloomin’ lovely to also be presenting another side of my knowledge with Media Training. From having worked with the likes of the Made in Chelsea girls through to Lady Gaga, worked as an agency and PR representative and seen first hand inside and out how the media world works, it was so much fun to draw that experience into this Media Training session.
I’ll be creating some Media Training content for my DIY PR membership, The PR Spotlight in the next couple of months, but if you would like to look at delivery of media training to your team or more tailored support to get you ready for a media push, then just pop me an email.
